Seminars: FAQs

Where are you located?

Location is one of the best things about Texas Photographic Workshops!

We are located on the 3-B Ranch established in 1976, 7 miles outside of Caldwell, Texas. The 110-acre cattle ranch is just 25 minutes west of College Station, 1 1/2 hours north of Austin, 2 hours north west of Houston, and only 3 1/2 hours south of the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

Of course, by plane, we are just a few hours from anywhere in the country, or the world.

How much does a course cost?

Tuition for 2007 is $595 per student. This includes admittance in the course, continental breakfast each morning, lunch on full day classes, cookout on Sunday night, snacks, a workbook, and one Power of Business DVD set ($195 value).

How many students are in each class?

The ratio of students to teachers is about 12 to 1 or less.

How do I register for a course?

Since we keep class sizes small and enrollment is limited, we recommend that you register early. All class assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

To reserve your space in a class, a $300 deposit is required at the time of registration. The balance is due 30 days prior to the start of the workshop. No space is held without a deposit.

You can download the registration form and mail or email it with your payment. We take Visa, Mastercard, American Express, check or money order.

What is a typical schedule for the classes?

Most photography classes begin at 9 am. The building is open at 8 am for continental breakfast and one-on-one instructor time. We eat lunch together (lunch on full days is included in your tuition) Most classes go until 6 pm.

If your class includes outdoor photography, one or two evenings may be used for outdoor photography. On one night we will cook out here at the ranch (also included in tuition).

Do I need to bring my own computer?

For the computer classes, your computer is a must. If you are taking a photography class, a computer is nice since you will be able to look at your images from your digital camera.

We do have a small computer lab with a PC and a MAC that can be used by students.

Which level photography class I should take?

Are you familiar with most of the menus on your camera? Do you usually shoot on manual or one of the automatic modes? Do you have and use a handheld meter? Do you know how to white balance your camera?

If you're not sure how to answer these questions, take Level 1. If you do know the answers to these questions, register for Level 2.

What if I have to cancel?

We need to know who is coming so we can plan the classes. Many classes have a waiting list; however, everyone needs time to plan.

If you cancel more than 60 days before a class we will refund your deposit less a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel 30-60 days prior the start date of a class we will refund your deposit, less a $125 cancellation fee. If you cancel less than 30 days before the class, we will keep your $300 deposit.

We reserve the right to cancel a reservation if the full payment is has not been received 15 days prior to the start date of a workshop.

Texas Photographic Workshops is not responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable airline tickets in the event of a workshop cancellation. Please check on your class status before making travel arrangements.
